About

My Energy helps individuals create healthy lifestyles and a healthy planet. Over decades, technology and automation have eliminated opportunities to burn calories. At the same time, we have 24-7 access to calorie dense foods. The  My Energy mission is to inspire, educate and equip people to use our own energy to power various aspects of our lives – shrinking our waistlines, expanding our wallets and reducing our impact on the environment.

We are facing a “perfect storm” of factors calling for a change in the central theme of American life over the past 50 years:  overconsumption. Overconsumption of calories and increased “consumption” of electronic media have resulted in soaring obesity rates – and obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes – among Americans. The housing crisis that set off the current economic downturn was created, in part, by Americans’ decisions to “consume” houses larger than their financial standing could support. Globally, we face ever-increasing challenges related to climate change. It is now widely accepted that acceleration of climate change is caused by human action, including in large part, overconsumption, especially among developed nations, most notably, the U.S.

Rather than viewing these related challenges as an overwhelming crisis, we should view them as an incredible opportunity – especially when viewed together. Combined, they offer a “sweet spot” for behavior change among individuals, communities, organizations and society, with the opportunity for a healthier planet, economy and population.

My Energy Enterprises founder, Nancy Murphy, started this effort to share her passion for healthy, active and sustainable living. Nancy brings 20 years of experience in communications, public policy and partnership-building to this latest endeavor. She has worked for local and national nonprofit organizations, the federal government, a global communications consulting firm and a family foundation. Nancy also has extensive training and public speaking experience. She enjoys cooking, running, cycling, yoga and any excuse to get outdoors.

Nancy has personally experienced the power  of physical activity and healthy eating for reducing stress, enabling a positive outlook, and building the strength and endurance to succeed in everyday personal and professional activities. Nancy believes that we all need better access to clear, honest, empowering information to overcome the overwhelming communication that reinforces unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle choices.
